    April 20: Free Shred and Electronics Recycling Event at St. Thomas More Church and School in Decatur

    National Association of Professional Organizers (NAPO) Georgia Celebrates Earth Day with Free Neighborhood Shred Event with Electronics Recycling Opportunity for Decatur Community

     Saturday, April 20, 2024, 9 - 11 AM, (or until truck is full) at St. Thomas More Church and School, 630 Ponce De Leon Ave. Decatur GA 30030.  

    Professional organizers from NAPO-Georgia (NAPOGeorgia.com), EcoShredding of Atlanta, Data Delete Recycle, and St. Thomas More Church and School are partnering together to provide community members with this free opportunity.

    Georgia professional organizers want to educate the public about the importance of decluttering and recycling within homes or businesses

    Members will accept four boxes of paper per car for free shredding (while space remains available in the mobile shredding unit)

    Electronics recycling will be available (some items require a small fee to recycle)

    Shredding should be free of all paper clips, metal clips and any binding materials

     Electronic recycling will accept computer, printing and gaming equipment, household electronics, etc.

    Monitors and TVs will include a processing fee of $25-$40 based on screen size.

    Topic:  "Wills, Bills, and Estate Thrills: The Life of an Executor"


    This presentation delves into the multifaceted role of an executor, guiding attendees through the labyrinth of tasks and responsibilities following the death of a loved one. Executors play a pivotal role in estate planning and management, a task that encompasses legal, financial, and emotional challenges. From the immediate aftermath of death, dealing with body disposition and securing property, to the complexities of asset distribution and closing the estate, this talk unpacks the executor's journey. It highlights the practical steps involved, the potential for family disputes, and the emotional toll on the executor. By intertwining real-life anecdotes and practical advice, this presentation aims to equip current and future executors with the knowledge and tools needed to navigate their duties effectively, honoring their loved one's legacy while managing the inherent costs and challenges of the role.


    Rachel's Bio:

    Rachel Donnelly is a driven entrepreneur and compassionate leader, renowned for her innovative contributions to the after loss industry. Drawing on personal experiences of loss, including the passing of her parents, Rachel founded AfterLight (originally Black Dress Consultants). This pioneering firm assists clients in managing the intricate administrative tasks of legacy planning and estate administration, offering solace and support in times of grief.

    As the CEO of AfterLight, Rachel has been pivotal in developing unique services, such as the Legacy Building Formula™, a 6-step coaching program aiding clients in preserving their stories and safeguarding their families' futures. Her expertise extends to managing complex cases involving digital assets and cross-border estates, testament to her comprehensive approach in estate administration.

    Rachel's entrepreneurial spirit is further exemplified in her co-founding of Professionals of After Loss Services (PALS), the first organization setting industry standards for after loss professionals. Here, she has played a critical role in creating the PALS Training Program™, an innovative online course shaping skilled professionals worldwide.

    Prior to her ventures in the after loss sector, Rachel garnered extensive experience in higher education fundraising. She held significant roles at prestigious institutions like Emory University, Georgia Institute of Technology, and Shepherd Center Foundation.

    Her diverse responsibilities spanning major and planned gift fundraising in higher education to philanthropic endeavors in non-profit healthcare, highlights the breadth and depth of her successful former career in development.

    An alumna of Agnes Scott College with a B.A. in Political Science, Rachel's dedication to community service is evident in her board membership at Love Not Lost and involvement with the Atlanta Estate Planning Council. She is currently working on her first book, which will be a tapestry of stories of her experiences with loss and lessons from her journey in after loss consulting.

    Rachel lives in Atlanta with her husband Zack, their two children and their adorable black lab mix, Rhett Butler.
